The BiG Austin, Dukes project is designed to foster an inclusive, connected community that integrates innovative senior living with lifelong learning opportunities. The client’s mission is to create a multi-functional space that caters to a wide range of residents while promoting wellness, social engagement, and personal growth. This development emphasizes restoring a previously underutilized landscape, transforming it into a space where people of all ages and backgrounds can live, learn, and thrive.

Located in Austin, Texas, the site presents unique challenges due to its steep, narrow geography. However, the design creatively overcomes these obstacles through thoughtful planning and the use of a central “green spine” that connects the entire development. This feature enhances mobility across the site while promoting sustainability and interaction with nature.
