Housed in a historic 1920s structure, the Ella Austin Community Center is a vital hub for the Dignowity Hill neighborhood of San Antonio's East side. The community center offers a variety of services from early childhood development and youth reading programs to senior nutrition services. Through extensive community engagement and a series of public workshops, the project team worked to better understand resident wants and needs regarding the future of the community center. By understanding the community's needs, the project team was able to develop appropriate programing and master plan concepts, ensuring that the services offered cater effectively to a diverse range of ages. In doing so, the Ella Austin Community Center will yield transformative results for the Dignowity Hill Neighborhood.
